Africa Dances A Book About West African Negroes

I have spelt the names of the places in French Posession after the local fashion, and not in the traditional English way: — Ouidah, not Whidah (or Fida, as Bosman writes it); Abengourou, not Aben- guru, etc.  On the few occasions where I have used native words, I have spelt them phonetically, given the consonants their English value and the voles the general Italian value.  In Book One such words are in Wolof, in Book Three in Ffon, or its derivatives.  The one or two other words are Dioula (Sudanese).  On Occasion I have written about ‘Africa’ or ‘negroes’ to avoid clumsiness, but I do not intend any remarks to refer to any district or race except those I visited in West Africa.
